Section 10.20.010 Rates of Parking Meters Established.

10.20.010 Rates of parking meters established.  
    1. Parking meters may be installed at various locations in the city. Rates are established by the maximum length of time available on the meters according to the following schedule in subsection 2, 3, and 4.
    2. Thirty-minute meters. The rate for thirty minute meters shall be:  60 cents for 30 minutes per vehicle.
    3. Sixty-minute meters; two-hour meters; and four-hour meters. The rate for sixty minute meters, two-hour meters, and four-hour meters shall be:  75 cents for 60 minutes per vehicle.
    4. Ten-hour meters. The rate for ten-hour meters shall be:  50 cents for 60 minutes per vehicle.
    5. Meter box parking facility. The rate for a meter box parking facility per vehicle shall be as follows:  Seventy-five cents for sixty minutes per vehicle up to a maximum of $4.75.
Persons parking at a meter box parking facility shall not park for more than twelve hours.
    6. Hours of enforcement. Payment of the parking fees at all meters and meter box parking facilities shall be enforced between the hours 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., local time, except for Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
    7. Lawful tender. Except as hereinafter provided, the only coins which may lawfully be deposited in a parking meter are coins minted by the United States in the following denomination:  Nickel, dime and quarter. All ten-hour meters shall accept quarters only. The only tender which may lawfully be deposited in a meter box parking facility are coins minted by the United States in the following denominations:  Nickel, dime, and quarter, or bills printed by the United States. The City Council may approve special tokens for lawful use.
    8. Suburban meter box parking facility. The rate for a suburban meter box parking facility shall be twenty-five cents for sixty minutes per vehicle up to a maximum of twelve hours.
    9. The rate for non-event parking at the Events Facilities parking lots shall be $47.00 per month subject to the following regulations:  
        (a).  All non-event parkers shall be subject to the right of the City to close the lots to non-event parkers to accommodate the parking needs of persons attending events at the Tyson Events Center, Long Lines Family Center and the Convention Center.
        (b)  Subject to paragraph (a) above, all Events Facilities parking lots shall be open to non-event parkers after 5:30 p.m. on week days, on holidays and on weekends at no cost.

        (c)    For the purposes of this subsection, a non-event parker means a person who, during the time the person’s car is on one of the Events Facilities’ parking lots, is not attending an event at either the Tyson Events Center, Long Lines Family Center, and the Convention Center or conducting business with the City at one of these facilities.(Ord. 2007-0701, 2007-0430, 2000-8891; 99-8470; 99-8314; 95/U-3365; 93/U-1425; 93/U-849; 90/T-8383; 89/T-8012)
