Chapter 10.54 MOTORIZED SCOOTERS, ELECTRIFIED BICYCLES, AND OTHER PERSONAL TRANSPORT VEHICLES
Section 10.54.020 Definitions.
For use in this chapter, unless the context specifically indicates otherwise, the following
terms
are defined:
1. Motorized Scooters, Electrified Bicycles and Other
Personal Transport Vehicles means
any two, three or four wheeled device that has handlebars, is designed to be stood upon by the
operator, or equipped with a seat or saddle for use by a rider, and is powered by human
propulsion and electrical/battery or a combination of energy sources with a power source of a
combustion engine which has a piston or rotor displacement of no greater than fifty cubic
centimeters or less regardless of the number of chambers in the power source or a power source
which is electric and has a power output not more than one thousand watts and the power source
is not capable of propelling the device at a minimum speed of twenty miles per hour up a three
percent grade. These vehicles are collectively known herein as PTVs. (Ord. 2005-0193)
