Section 10.54.050 Places of operation.

Operators of PTVs shall comply with the following restrictions as to where PTVs may be operated within the city.
    1. Streets.  No person shall operate PTVs upon streets except for when making a direct crossing of the street.  PTVs may make a direct crossing of a street provided that:
    a. The crossing is made at an angle of approximately 90 degrees to the direction of the street and at a place where no obstruction prevents a quick and safe crossing;
    b. The PTVs are brought to a complete stop before crossing the street;
    c. The driver yields the right-of-way to all oncoming traffic which constitutes an immediate hazard; and
    d. In crossing a divided street the crossing is made only at the intersection of such street with another street.
    2. Sidewalks.  PTVs may be operated on sidewalks in a residential zone.  Whenever any person is operating PTVs upon a sidewalk, such person shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrians and shall give audible signal before overtaking and passing it.  No person shall operate PTVs in the following locations:
    a. Business District.  No person shall operate PTVs upon the sidewalks within the business districts as defined in Sections 25.54, 25.56 and 25.58 of this code.
    b. Other Locations.  When signs are erected on any sidewalk prohibiting the riding of PTVs thereon, it shall be unlawful for any person to ride a PTV on such sidewalk.
    3.  Perry Creek Greenway.  No person shall operate a Personal Transport Vehicle upon the Perry Creek Greenway. (Ord. 2007-0594, 2005-0193)
