Section 12.10.060 Automatic Meter Reading Device required.

1. After the effective date of this chapter all new facilities receiving water service shall be equipped with an automatic meter reading device readily accessible to city employees. Unless otherwise permitted by the city, the automatic meter reading device shall be located in close proximity to the water meter. The owner shall install an operable telephone jack within 3 feet of the water meter. If the owner does not install the telephone jack, the city may perform the work. If the city performs the work, the owner will be charged for the costs of installation and all repairs to any areas of the structure.

2. All existing residential and commercial structures with a ¾ inch or smaller meter shall be equipped with an automatic meter reading device readily accessible to city employees. All existing structures with a meter larger than ¾ inch shall continue to be equipped with a remote meter register located outside of the structure readily accessible to city employees until such time as the city converts their water meter to an automatic meter reading device.

3. Automatic meter reading devices and remote meter registers shall be supplied and installed by the city.(Ord. 2004-0795; 2002-0692; 94/U-1987)
