Chapter 15.04 CITY CEMETERIES
Section 15.04.020 Definitions.
Unless otherwise expressly stated or unless the context clearly
indicates a different intention,
the following terms shall, for purpose of this chapter and the rules and regulations promulgated
thereunder, have the following meanings:
1. "Burial spaces" is defined as that area within
a plot adequate for interment of remains.
2. "Cemetery" includes a burial park for earth
interments, a community mausoleum for vault or
crypt interments, and columbarium for cinerary interments, or a combination of one or more
thereof.
3. "City cemetery" means those cemeteries owned
and operated by the city.
4. "City manager" means the city manager appointed
pursuant to Chapter 2.06 of this code, or
his designee.
5. "Director" shall mean the director of the department
of public works or, in his absence, his

6. "Interment" means the permanent disposition
of the remains of a deceased person by
interment, entombment or burial.
7. "Memorial" includes a monument, marker, tablet,
headstone, private mausoleum or tomb for
family or individual use, tombstone, surface burial vault, urn, crypt and niche plates.
8. "Monument" means a memorial which shall extend
above the surface of the ground.
9. "Plot" is defined as an area having two or more
burial spaces. (Ord. 85/T-3630).
