Section 17.32.050 Assessment against property.

If the city manager or his designee proceeds to destroy, cut or remove the weeds, vines, or brush or other growth and debris, the owner shall be responsible to pay for the actual cost of labor and material, serving of notices, plus an additional fee of one hundred dollars to compensate for the cost of inspection, supervision and administration.  The city manager shall mail to the owner an itemized statement for all costs incurred in cutting or destroying the growth.  The statement shall contain a listing of the work performed, a description of the property affected, and a listing of the costs incurred.  The owner may pay the amount set within thirty days after the statement date without interest or penalty.  If the owner does not pay the cost of cutting or destroying the growth within thirty days after the statement date, the city manager shall report said unpaid bill to the city council.  Upon receipt of the report by the city council, the city council shall, by resolution, levy and assess the above costs plus an additional fifty dollar assessment fee against the lots or parcels of land as provided by law.
