Section 2.35.030 Term of Office.

Appointments to the board shall be made for a period of three years. Initial terms shall be staggered to minimize expirations in any one year.  Vacancies shall be filled by the council for the balance of the unexpired term.  A vacancy shall occur when a member resigns, fails to qualify within fourteen days, dies, moves from Sioux City, or has unexcused absences (as determined by the board) of twenty-five percent or more of the board meetings within any twelve-month period.  The presiding officer shall report such absence to the city council and upon receipt and approval of the report by the city council the office automatically becomes vacant.  No person may serve more than two consecutive full terms on the board. Full terms begin July 1st and end June 30th.  However, members whose terms have expired shall continue to serve until a successor is appointed by the city council.  (Ord. 2006-0635)
