Section 2.44.030 Sioux City Historic Preservation Commission.

There is hereby created the Sioux City Historic Preservation Commission as follows:
    1.    The Commission shall consist of nine members who shall be residents of the city.
    2. Members of the Commission shall be appointed by a majority vote of the City Council.  Members shall demonstrate a positive interest in historic preservation, possessing interest or expertise in architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, city planning, building rehabilitation, archeology, history, conservation in general, or real estate
    3.    The original appointment of the members of the commission shall be:  three members for one year, three members for two years, and three members for three years.  Terms end June 30 but members shall serve until their successor is appointed.
    4. Vacancies occurring in the Commission, other than expiration of term of office, shall be only for the unexpired portion of the term of the member replaced.
    5. Members may not serve for more than two full terms.
    6. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the City Council
    7. Members shall serve without compensation.
    8. A simple majority of the Commission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
    9. The Commission shall elect a chairman who shall preside over all commission meetings and elect a secretary who shall be responsible for maintaining written records of the Commission's proceedings.
    10. The Commission shall meet at least three (3) times a year.
    11. Commissioners may be removed by a majority vote of the City Council for good cause shown as determined by the City Council.  (Ord. 2005-0713; 2003-0730; 93/U-1221; 91/T-9919; 91/T-9663)
