The purpose of this chapter is to:

    1. Promote the preservation of existing trees in the City of Sioux City to the greatest extent practicable by limiting the unnecessary destruction of trees caused by public or private development, redevelopment, or the routine maintenance of public facilities.

    2. Promote the planning of proper species of trees where those trees would promote the health and welfare of the residents of Sioux City.

    3. Prohibit the planting of trees in areas of native prairie or in other areas in which trees would be inappropriate.  (Ord. 92/T-10735)
