Section 2.74.030 Term of office.

The members of the commission, when first appointed, shall, in the order of their appointment, hold terms of office as follows:  three members shall be appointed for three-year terms, three members shall be appointed for two-year terms, and three members shall be appointed for one-year terms.  All subsequent appointments shall be made for three-year terms, except to fill vacancies.  Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as the original position being vacated for the balance of the unexpired terms.  A vacancy occurs when a member resigns, fails to qualify within 14 days, dies, moves away from the city, or has unexcused (as determined by the commission) absences from three or more of the commission meetings within any 12 month period.  No person may serve more than two consecutive full terms on the commission. Full terms begin on January 1st and end on December 31st.  However, members whose terms have expired shall continue to serve until a successor is appointed.  All members of the commission shall serve without compensation for their services.
