Section 20.02.030 Definitions.

Certain words in this title are defined for the purposes thereof as follows: words used in the present tense include the future tense; words in the masculine gender include the feminine and neuter; the singular number includes the plural and the plural the singular. The following definitions shall apply in the interpretation and enforcement of this title:

1. In order to determine the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction, to provide for the reasonable interpretation of the provisions of ordinances or codes and to license contractors and persons under specific circumstances, "boards" have been created.

a. "Board," as used in Chapter 20.04, means the board of appeals (building code) as established in Chapter 20.04.

b. "Board," as used in Chapter 20.08 means the board of electrical examiners as established in Chapter 20.08.

c. "Board," as used in Chapters 20.14, 20.20 and 20.28, means the mechanical board as established in Chapter 20.20.

2. "Manager," as used in this title, means the legally designated manager of inspection services of the city of Sioux City, Iowa, or his authorized representatives.

3. "Hearing Officer," as used in Chapter 8.72, shall be the "manager" as defined in this title when action for abatement is started under this title. (Ord. 2005-0964; 90/T-9316)
