Chapter 20.05 HOUSING MAINTENANCE CODE
Section 20.05.180 Permits for rental dwellings required.
1. No landlord shall rent, lease, or otherwise allow the occupancy
of any dwelling unit unless
he or she holds a valid rental permit. No landlord may collect rent unless he or she holds a valid
rental permit.
2. New landlords are required to inform the inspection services
division of the sale or transfer
of ownership of all dwellings units within 30 days of the date of such transfer of ownership. The
notification must include the name and mailing address of the new landlord. The notification
may be provided by telephone or in writing. When such notification is provided, all rental
permits associated with the dwelling will be transferred, without charge, into the new landlord
s
name. When such notification is not provided, the new landlord will be required to register the
rental dwelling as a new registration, and pay all associated fees as if the dwelling was a new
