Section 20.05.180 Permits for rental dwellings required.

    1. No landlord shall rent, lease, or otherwise allow the occupancy of any dwelling unit unless he or she holds a valid rental permit.  No landlord may collect rent unless he or she holds a valid rental permit.
    2. New landlords are required to inform the inspection services division of the sale or transfer of ownership of all dwellings units within 30 days of the date of such transfer of ownership.  The notification must include the name and mailing address of the new landlord.  The notification may be provided by telephone or in writing.  When such notification is provided, all rental permits associated with the dwelling will be transferred, without charge, into the new landlord’ s name.  When such notification is not provided, the new landlord will be required to register the rental dwelling as a new registration, and pay all associated fees as if the dwelling was a new rental dwelling.
