Chapter 20.08 ELECTRICAL CODE
Section 20.08.250 Electrical power supply.
It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation or other association to supply electricity to any
electrical
equipment if a permit is required for its installation unless such connection has been authorized by
the
electrical inspector. Electrical equipment which has had the electrical service disconnected or terminated
for
a time period greater than 12 months shall require an inspection by the electrical inspector to verify
that all
existing electrical equipment is operable and in safe condition. All authorization requests for electrical
service shall require an advance payment of $85.00 to cover city inspection and administrative costs.
If the
electrical inspector finds the electrical equipment in conformance with the provisions of this code,
the
inspector shall then send authorization to the agency supplying the electrical service.
Electrical equipment
which is found defective or in such condition as to endanger life or property shall be denied authorization
of
electrical service.
It shall be unlawful to make connections to equipment that has been disconnected or ordered disconnected
by the manager or electrical inspector.
EXCEPTION: When it is necessary that electrical circuits remain energized during
remodeling, rewiring,
etc., it shall be permissible for electricians to temporarily reconnect the wiring to the supply of
electricity
before the electrical inspection.
