Section 20.08.390 Electrical license requirements.

    1. No person, firm, business or corporation shall engage in electrical contracting within the City of Sioux City without a valid contractor’s license as issued by the State of Iowa.  
    2. Any person  holding a State Class “B” Master Electricians license or State Class “B” Journeyman Electrician license is prohibited from performing electrical work within the City of Sioux City unless formerly licensed by the city of Sioux City as an electrician before January 1, 2009.
    3. All contractors seeking a permit under this chapter must first make and execute to the City a surety bond which shall be in the sum of $10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Dollars) conditioned on the faithful performance of all ordinances of the Code of Sioux City relating to construction; on the prompt payment to the City of all fees for permits that may become due and owing to the city; and the payment of all fines imposed upon for violation of Title 20 during the life of the bond; and on indemnifying the City, its officers, agents and employees, keeping it harmless from any liability for damages arising from his/her negligence and unskillfulness in doing, protecting and completing his/her work.  The bond shall be kept in full force and effect for a period of one year after the bonds expiration or cancellation date.
    4. Any vehicle owned or operated by electrical contractors shall have the electrical contractor’s name as it appears on the contractor’s license, in contrasting color, with characters at least three inches high and one-half-inch in width affixed to each side of the vehicle.  (Ord.2009-0274;  97/U-6146)
