Section 20.14.130 Applicability to existing buildings.

    1. Existing plumbing in any structure may be copper, galvanized iron, black iron or any other material which was permitted by the code in effect at the time the structure was constructed.
    2. Such existing plumbing may remain in place until such time as it fails or ceases to function properly and safely. When such plumbing must be replaced due to failure, the material used in replacement must comply with the code currently in effect at the time of replacement.
    3. All plumbing work in existing buildings for which permits are required, must be performed by licensed plumbing contractors utilizing licensed master, journeyman and apprentice plumbers.  (Ord. 2000-9734; 90/T-9321)
