Chapter 20.14 PLUMBING CODE
Section 20.14.440 License application.
1. Every person who desires to sit for an examination must fill out an application
form and pay a
nonrefundable application fee of $25.00.
a. All new license applications are subject to a two
part review process. The first part of the review is
performed by inspection services staff at the time the application and all supporting documents are
submitted. The second part of the review is performed by the mechanical board at the first scheduled
regular meeting following staff review.
b. Staff is authorized to approve all applications and
to issue all licenses subject to board review and
approval. The board shall review the applications for licenses for compliance with the provisions of
this
ordinance. In the event the board, upon their subsequent review, disapproves any license issued by staff,
the
license shall become null and void immediately upon written notification to the applicant.
2. Every person who is approved to sit for an examination for a license must
first pay directly to the third-party council-approved testing agency the following nonrefundable examination
fees:
a. Master plumber $50.00
b. Journeyman plumber $50.00
c. Pipelayer $50.00
3. Before any license is issued or renewed, the applicant must pay to the city
the following license fees:
a. Plumbing contractor $350.00/1yr
b. Master plumber $40.00/ 1yr, or $120.00/
4 yrs
c. Journeyman plumber $20.00/ 1yr, or
$60.00/ 4 yrs
d. Apprentice plumber $10.00/ 1yr, or
$30.00/ 4 yrs
e. Utility contractor $350.00/ 1yr
f. Pipelayer $40.00/ 1yr, or $120.00/
4 yrs
g. Multiple contractor licenses $350.00
for the first license and $15 for each additional
license/1yr
4. All licenses are valid for a period of either 1 year or 4 years, in accord
with the fee schedule in 3.
above.
5. All licenses shall expire on December 31 of each year and shall be renewed
annually. All licenses may
be renewed within 30 days prior or 30 days after December 31. Any license not renewed 30 days after
expiration will be charged a double license fee. Any license not renewed within one year of expiration
must
appear before the mechanical board for approval or denial of renewal. (Ord. 2000-9734)
