Section 20.20.130 Applicability to existing buildings.

    1. Existing mechanical heating ventilating and air conditioning system in any building may be of any material which was permitted by the code in effect at the time the building was constructed.
    2. Such existing mechanical system may remain in place until such time as it fails or ceases to function properly and safely. When such mechanical system must be replaced due to failure, the materials, methods, fixtures and appliances used in replacement must comply with the code for new buildings in effect at the time of replacement.
    3. All mechanical work in existing buildings for which permits are required, must be performed by licensed mechanical contractors utilizing licensed or unlicensed employees.  (Ord. 2000-9735)
