Chapter 20.20 MECHANICAL CODE
Section 20.20.280 Authority.
The manager or mechanical inspector is authorized, directed and empowered to inspect any and all
mechanical installations within the city, to placard and order removed or repaired and put in proper
and safe
condition any fixtures, connections and equipment used in the supply, distribution and utilization of
natural
gas so that persons and property will not be endangered.
The manager or mechanical inspector shall notify, in writing, the person, firm,
corporation or other entity
responsible of his findings and orders. If the necessary changes or repairs are not completed within
the time
specified, the manager shall have the authority to disconnect the natural gas service to the equipment
or
installation in question. If necessary, for safety of persons or property, or if the equipment may interfere
with the work of the fire department, the manager or mechanical inspector shall have the authority to
disconnect or cause the immediate disconnection of such service or equipment. If fires have damaged
the
gas piping or mechanical fixtures or appliances of any building or structure, reconnection to natural
gas
supply shall not be made until authorized by the mechanical inspector. (Ord. 2000-9735)
