Chapter 20.20 MECHANICAL CODE
Section 20.20.410 Refrigeration contractor’ s license.
1. The applicant for a refrigeration contractor s license must either:
a. Possess a current city master refrigeration technician
s license; or
b. Submit documentation (such as W 2s or employment
records) which indicates that he is a member
of a firm, corporation, limited liability company or partnership which employs, in a supervisory capacity,
a
person who possesses a current city master refrigeration technician s license. A contractor
s license issued
under this condition becomes null and void one hundred twenty days after the termination of such working
relationship.
2. The applicant must submit a bond approved by the legal department in the
sum of $10,000 conditioned
during the life of such bond on the following:
a. Faithful performance of all duties and regulations
required by this title;
b. The prompt payment to the city of any sums that may
become due and owing to the city by reason of
this title;
c. The payment of all fines imposed upon the contractor
for violation of this title;
d. Indemnifying the city and keeping it harmless from
liabilities for damages arising from the
contractor or the employee's negligence and unskillfulness in doing, protecting and completing the work;
e. The bond shall be kept in full force and effect during
the period of the license and for a period of
one year after cancellation or expiration of the license.
3. The applicant must submit proof that he is registered as a contractor with
the Division of Labor of the
State of Iowa.
4. The applicant must pay the required license application fee.
5. The applicant must pay the required license fee.
6. Any vehicle owned or operated by a refrigeration contractor shall have the
contractor s name as it
appears on the contractor s license, in contrasting color, with characters at least three inches
high and one-half-inch in width affixed to each side of the vehicle.
7. Current license must be carried by licensee at all times. (Ord. 2000-9735)
