The manager and inspectors are authorized to enter any commercial or industrial building at any reasonable time to determine the type and capacity of any boiler or ammonia refrigeration plants and to determine the presence of appropriately licensed employees, as required by this ordinance. The manager or mechanical inspector is authorized, directed and empowered to inspect any and all mechanical installations within the city, to placard and order removed or repaired and put in proper and safe condition any fixtures, connections and equipment used in the supply, distribution and utilization of natural gas so that persons and property will not be endangered.
The manager or mechanical inspector shall notify, in writing, the person, firm, corporation or other association responsible of his findings and orders. If the necessary changes or repairs are not completed within the time specified, the manager shall have the authority to disconnect the natural gas service to the equipment or installation in question. If necessary, for safety of persons or property, or if the equipment may interfere with the work of the fire department, the manager or mechanical inspector shall have the authority to disconnect or cause the immediate disconnection of such service or equipment. If fires have damaged the gas piping or mechanical fixtures or appliances of any building or structure, reconnection to the natural gas supply shall not be made until authorized by the mechanical inspector.  (Ord. 2000-9646; 90/T-9327)
