Section 25.56.020 Principal permitted uses.

Except as limited by Section 25.56.030 of this chapter and except when a conditional use permit is required by Section 25.56.050 of this chapter, the following principal uses are permitted as of right in the BG zone:
    1. All uses and structures permitted in the BC zone, except as hereinafter expressly prohibited;
    2. Wholesale establishments, as defined in Chapter 25.04 of this title;
    3. Automobile service establishments, as defined in Chapter 25.04 of this title, subject to the following conditions:
        a. All repairs shall be performed within a building,
        b. All refuse and trash shall be stored in closed containers and in an area screened from view at all points on any public or private property or street,
        c. All permanent storage of material, merchandise and equipment, including wrecked vehicles, shall be stored in areas screened from view in accordance with the screening techniques set forth in Section 25.56.060 below, subject to the additional standard that such screening shall be sufficient to block totally any view of such stored materials from any adjacent public right-of-way;
    4. The following heavy service and restricted manufacturing establishments:
        a. Carpentry, custom woodworking or custom furniture-making shops,
        b. Combination display store, office and fabrication shop for electrical, heating, plumbing, refrigeration, and the manufacturing of cellulose insulation,
        c. Contractors' offices without outside accessory storage,
        d. Dry-cleaning, laundry or cleaning and dyeing plants,
        e. Linen, towel, or diaper supply,
        f. Machinery sales or rental;
    5. Rental of vehicles, including trucks, trailers and recreational vehicles;
    6. Hotels and motels, campgrounds;
    7. Lumber yards and building supply establishments;
    8. Administrative offices, corporate headquarters, governmental or general office buildings;
    9. Taxicab terminals;
    10. Restaurants serving alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, taverns, bars and cocktail lounges including those with dancing or live entertainment, subject to the additional standard that the portion of the building used for dancing or entertainment shall have no openings  facing any adjacent residentially zoned or used property, other than stationary insulated glass windows which shall be screened or draped in a manner to prevent direct light from shining onto such adjacent property; provided, however, that an entrance may face such residential property if it is at least one hundred feet from the property line, and fire doors as required by the fire code of the city may face such residential property when the distance is less than one hundred feet, if such fire door is not designed as a general entrance or exit;
    11. Fraternal lodges, residential and recreational clubs;
    12. Liquor Stores;
    13. Carnivals and similar exhibitions, subject to the provisions and standards of Chapter 4.14 of this code;
    14. Mini-warehouses as defined in Chapter 25.04 of this title.
    15. Business incubators.  
    16. Juvenile detention facility.
    17. Bed and breakfast homes, subject to the following standards:
        a. Minimum gross habitable floor area:  750 square feet per rooming unit
        b. Minimum total lot area:  5000 square feet
        c. Screening: Parking lots for more than three vehicles shall be screened from neighboring residentially zoned or used properties.  The screening shall be continuous, six feet in height, and shall consist of a fence, foliage or a combination of such materials.
    18. Bed and breakfast inns, subject to the following standards:
        a. Minimum gross habitable floor area:  500 square feet per rooming unit
        b. Minimum total lot area:  5000 square feet
        c. Screening: Parking lots for more than three vehicles shall be screened from neighboring residentially zoned or used properties.  The screening shall be continuous, six feet in height, and shall consist of a fence, foliage or a combination of such materials.
    19.   Churches, synagogues, chapels and similar places of religious worship or instruction.
