Chapter 25.66 MH HEAVY MANUFACTURING ZONE
Section 25.66.080 Performance standards.
Each structure or use permitted or permissible in the MH zone shall meet the following
performance standards:
1. Conduct of Use. No permitted or permissible use shall be conducted in any
manner which
would render it noxious or offensive by reason of dust, refuse matter, odor, smoke, gas fumes,
noise, vibration or glare.
2. Enclosure. All manufacturing or processing activities shall be completely
enclosed in
buildings, except as provided in subsection 25.66.070-1n.
3. Outdoor Storage. Salvage, auto wrecking and similar manufacturing operations
shall be
fenced. The fence shall be of uniform design and color and neither less than eight feet high nor
more than ten feet high. It shall be opaque and kept in good repair. No outdoor storage of
materials which could be blown into the air or strewn about by wind shall be permitted.
4. Loading. Loading and unloading operations shall take place entirely within
the site and shall
not be so located as to interfere within pedestrian routes.
5. Fire Hazard. No operation shall be established which fails to meet the Uniform
Fire Code as
adopted by the city.
6. Sewage and Liquid Waste. All operations shall comply with the sewer use rates
and
regulations ordinance of the city and any regulations of state or federal agencies responsible for
pollution control.
7. Smoke, Particulate Matter and Gases. No use shall be established which fails
to meet the air
quality regulations of the Iowa Department of Environmental Quality pertaining to emission of
smoke, particulate matter, fugitive dust, gases and other air contaminants.
8. Odor. Odor-causing operations shall be controlled so as to reduce the escape
of odors to the
minimum practical within the limits of technology and economics.
9. Vibration. All machines shall be mounted so as to minimize vibration. Vibration
shall not be
so excessive as to interfere with industrial operations on nearby premises. (Ord. 2001-0219;
