Chapter 4.36 SIGN REGULATIONS
Section 4.36.130 On-premises advertising signs located in BC, BG, BN, BNH, MA, ML and MH zones.
1. Signs Allowed.
a. Signs not requiring a permit (4.30.050).
b. On-premises advertising signs (4.36.020(0-2)).
2. Sign Types Allowed. All building signs and one freestanding sign per
street frontage.
3. Sign Areas Allowed.
a. See on-premises advertising sign table, Section 4.36.240.

The total square footage of all wall mounted on-premises advertising signs requiring a permit shall
not exceed an area equal to 15 percent of the wall surface or facade whichever is greater on which they
are
mounted.
c. Each business is allowed a minimum of 50 square feet
of permitted on-premise signage that requires
a permit.
d. Projecting signs shall not extend more than six feet
beyond the face of the building to which it is
attached, and shall be a minimum of eight feet from grade to lower edge of sign when placed over any
pedestrian way and shall be a minimum of fourteen feet from grade to lower edge of sign when placed
over
any vehicular way.
e. Roof signs shall not exceed twenty-five percent of
the height of the building on which the sign is
mounted, not to exceed twelve feet in height above the roof line.
f. Signs shall not be located in, upon or over any public
right-of-way unless said portion of public
right-of-way has first been vacated and proper authorization through:
(1) Acquisition of title; or
(2) Acquisition of an easement;
or
(3) An encroachment permit pursuant
to Chapter 17.28 of the municipal code has first been
obtained. Encroachment signs where signs are limited to wall signs, as defined in Section 4.36.020.

One freestanding, on-premise advertising sign for each street frontage shall be allowed. No more than
two frontages shall be allowed freestanding signage. Sign areas shall not exceed one square feet of
signage
per lineal foot of the street frontage on which they are placed. No single sign shall exceed two
hundred fifty
square feet. When two freestanding signs are located on a single parcel they shall be a minimum of 100
feet
apart as measured in a straight line except that monument signs shall have no required minimum separation.
