Chapter 4.52 CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS
Section 4.52.010 Definitions.
For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings:
1. "Charity" means any organization regardless of
organizational structure or name who
solicits and uses the proceeds or property from such solicitation for benefit of its members or
others. It is intended that a charity shall have no provision for making profits and distributing
them on the basis of work product but derive its funds mainly from public and private donations
which it holds in trust for the objects and purposes expressed in its charter or similar document.
2. "Permanent resident" means any charity with an
established office in Sioux City for more
than one year immediately prior to registration.
3. "Premises" means any real property, including a
building or structure and every separate
living unit or place of business contained therein.
4. "Promoter" means any person who for pecuniary compensation
or consideration solicits for
or on behalf of any charity or conducts or manages any drive or campaign for any charity.
5. "Registered solicitor" means any charity and its
authorized agents who have registered with
the Better Business Bureau of Siouxland of the City of Sioux City as hereinafter provided.
6. "Registrant" means the person completing and filing
on behalf of any charity the registration
form required herein with the Better Business Bureau of Siouxland of the City of Sioux City,
Iowa.
7. "Solicit" means any manner of seeking donations
of money or property or the sale of
property for donations of money or other thing of value for the support or benefit of any charity.
8. "Solicitor" means any person engaged in soliciting. (Ord.
