1.     Every charity desiring to engage in soliciting is required to register with the Better Business Bureau of Siouxland.  

    2.    The following charities are exempt from the registration requirement:

        a. Charities soliciting solely from among their own members.

        b. Political organizations regulated under United States Code Title 2 § 431 and Chapter 56 of the Code of Iowa;

        c. Solicitations other than telephone solicitations made upon premises owned or occupied by the charity;

        d. Public and private schools located within the city;

        e. Groups organized under Title 36, U.S.C.A., Patriotic Societies and Observances.

        f. Charities approved by the United Way of Siouxland unless a paid promoter is used.

        g. Youth organizations located in Sioux City when solicitations are made by minor members of the youth organization other than by telephone solicitations.  (Ord. 94/U-2295; 94/U-1662; 85/T-3696)
