Chapter 4.64 TAXICABS AND OTHER VEHICLES FOR HIRE


Section 4.64.040 Applications.

    1. Application for a license for engaging in the vehicle-for-hire business shall be made by the owner on forms furnished by the city.  Each application form shall be completed in its entirety and shall be accompanied by the nonrefundable license fee as provided in this chapter and filed with the city.

    2. Upon receiving an application, the police record of any applicant shall be investigated.

    3. If the city clerk determines that the applicant is eligible for a vehicle-for-hire license and the vehicles proposed to be licensed comply with the provisions of this chapter, a license shall be issued.  In the event that an application is denied, the city shall notify the applicant by mail

    4. The decision of the city clerk to deny the issuance of a license shall be subject to appeal to the city manager by the applicant.  The appeal of the decision may be taken in the manner set forth in section 2.06.070.

    5. All vehicles-for-hire that are licensed in accordance with the terms of this chapter shall have their licenses renewed for each succeeding year. (Ord. 2006-0415; 2001-0340; 98/U-6342; 90/T-8081)
