Section 4.64.170 Taximeters.

    1. Every taxicab shall have affixed thereto a regular taximeter of standard size.
    2. No license shall be issued to a taxicab until the owner of the taxicab certifies that the taximeter attached thereto is accurate.
    3. No person shall use or permit to be used upon any taxicab any taximeter which is in such condition as to be over five percent incorrect to the prejudice of any passenger.
    4. After sundown and until sunrise, the face of every taximeter shall be illuminated by a suitable light, so arranged as to throw steady light thereon, while in service.
    5. No person shall use or permit to be used, or drive for hire, a taxicab equipped with a taximeter the case of which is unsealed and not having its cover and gear intact, so that the meter reading thereof can be changed by any person without actual operation of the taxicab.
    6. No driver of a taxicab equipped with a taximeter, while carrying passengers or under employment, shall display the signal affixed to such taximeter in such position as to denote such vehicle is not employed.
    7. No person shall drive a taxicab to which is attached a taximeter that has not been duly inspected and approved as provided in this chapter.  (Ord. 82/T-566; S-33183, 1977)
