Section 4.68.030 Ambulance license required.

    1. Any person, either as owner, agent or otherwise, who meets the standards contained in this chapter shall be eligible to apply to the licensing authority for licensing of an ambulance under this chapter.
    2. Provided further that no license shall be required for any vehicle or for the driver or attendants of any vehicle which is rendering assistance to licensed ambulances in the case of a major catastrophe or emergency with which the licensed ambulances of the city are insufficient or unable to cope; or is operated from a location or headquarters outside of the city, in order to transport patients who are picked up beyond the limits of the city to locations within the city, but no such outside ambulance shall be used to pick up patients within the city, for transportation to locations located within the city, unless the emergency medical technician, emergency medical technician-driver and the person subject to the provisions of this chapter in respect to licensing of such ambulance, hold a currently valid license or licenses issued pursuant to this chapter.  (Ord.
