Section 4.76.020 Definitions.

As used in this ordinance the following words shall mean:
    1. Compost.  Compost means a mixture consisting of decayed organic waste used for fertilizing and conditioning soil produced by controlled decomposition through compositing.
    2. Composting.  Composting means the chemical and microbial process of decomposition of organic wastes or mixtures of organic waste that have been piled together.
    3. Commercial composting.  Commercial composting means composting a product for sale and/or use off of the premises on which the composting occurred.
    4. Drying-bulking agents.  Drying-bulking agents are organic materials used to reduce the moisture content of an organic waste and increase its porosity for facilitating the diffusion of air into the composting pile.
    5. Director. Director means the director of the environmental services department.  (Ord. 98/U-6424; 87/T-5290)
