Section 5.20.038 Curbside Recycling.

    1.    Every owner of a premise from which solid waste materials or yard waste is removed by the city pursuant to this Chapter may voluntarily cooperate with the recycling of materials.
    2.    All recyclable materials must be separated from other garbage, rubbish, and yard waste and grouped together and placed as defined in this section for collection if the owner participates in the recycling program.
    3. Recyclable materials separated for recycling shall be placed in containers provided by the city expressly for recyclable materials or may be placed in other containers approved by the director.  No items other than recyclable materials shall be placed in a city approved recyclable materials container.
    4. Recyclable materials shall be divided into two groups and placed into two separate compartments or two separate containers approved by the director.  All recyclable materials consisting of glass, plastics, and cans shall be placed in one compartment or container, and all recyclable materials consisting of newsprint, high grade paper, cardboard, and textiles shall be placed in a separate compartment or approved container.
    5.    Recyclable materials deposited in approved containers and placed for collection by the city as provided for in Section 5.20.070 are the property of the city of Sioux City or its authorized collection agent. (Ord. 98/U-6424; 87/T-5290)
