Chapter 5.20 SOLID WASTE


Section 5.20.131 Prohibited Wastes.

    1.   The following types of waste shall be prohibited from the landfill:
        a. Hazardous waste.
        b. Lead acid batteries.
        c. Waste oil.
        d. Beverage containers disposed of by a dealer, distributor, or manufacturer, or a person operating a redemption center, as defined in Chapter 455C of the Iowa Code.
        e. Unseparated and/or improperly contained yard waste.
    2. Special waste may be accepted providing a special waste authorization has been issued by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.  Charges will be made on the basis of actual disposal costs, and not on the fees described in Section 5.20.130.  Communication costs deemed necessary by the city to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources or required by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources relative to disposal of special wastes will be borne by the hauler and/or generator of these solid wastes.
