Section 8.24.040 Removal of abandoned property.

    1. The city manager shall cause any such property so abandoned, left or placed on any street, alley, or public place to be removed and stored until disposed of as provided herein. Property of no monetary value may be disposed of immediately.
    2. Household goods and other property of a tenant placed on the public right-of-way by the sheriff or other officer of the court as part of an eviction shall be removed by the abutting property owner if unclaimed by the tenant or owner within twenty-four hours after placement on the public right-of-way. Property not so removed shall be considered abandoned and of no monetary value. If the abutting property owner fails to remove the property within forty-eight hours after placement on the public right-of-way, the city manager shall proceed under the provisions of section 8.72.090 and cause such property so abandoned to be removed and disposed of. All cost associated with the removal and disposal shall be assessed to the abutting property owner.  (Ord. 98/U-6886; S-29555, 1976)
