Chapter 8.60 CURFEW
Section 8.60.015 Exceptions.
In the following situations, a minor as contemplated in Section 8.60.010 shall not be considered in
violation
of the Curfew Ordinance. The exceptions are as follows:
1. When the minor is accompanied by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult
person then having the
care and custody of the minor;
2. Where the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business as directed
in writing, dated and
signed by his or her parent, guardian, or other adult person then having the care and custody of the
minor;
3. When minors under the age of sixteen (16) have attended a school-sponsored
or church-sponsored
event, said minors while at the event or while travelling along the most direct route between the event
and
the minor's place of residence shall not be deemed to violate Section 8.60.010 until after twelve o'clock
(midnight);
4. When the minor is travelling to report for work or returning home from work
along the most direct
route between the minor's place of residence and the minor's place of employment;
5. When the minor is, with written parental consent, in a motor vehicle travelling
along the most direct
route from the minor's place of residence to a specific destination for a specific purpose, and includes
but is
not limited to travel beginning in, passing through, or ending in the City of Sioux City, Iowa.
6. When any minor attending a special function or entertainment of any church,
school, club or other
organization that requires such minor to be out at a later hour than that called for in this section
shall be
exempted from the provisions of this section provided the church, school, club or other organization
shall
verify that the minor attended a special function or entertainment of any church, school, club or other
organization.
7. When any minor is involved or associating with others for the common advancement
of political
beliefs and ideas, including, but not limited to caucuses and city council meetings.
