HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

The Human Rights Commission receives and investigates complaints of discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations; sponsors programs that promote goodwill among the various racial, religious, and ethnic groups in an attempt to minimize or eliminate discrimination based on race, age, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, and mental or physical disability.

ESTABLISHED: 1963

TYPE: Quasi-Judicial

NUMBER Of MEMBERS: 11

TERM: 3 Years

MEETINGS: 1st Thursday of each month, 6 p.m.

LOCATION: Council Chambers, City Hall, 405 6th Street

MEMBERSHIP: Must be broadly representative of the community at large including groups and classes protected by Chapter 4.04 of the Municipal Code.
