GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Shelves books; does related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine manual clerical work performed un-der the immediate supervision of a paraprofessional or professional librarian in accordance with well defined procedures.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative only)
Removes requested books from shelves;
Shelves books;
Reads shelves;
Labels and mends books;
Puts microfilm on readers for patrons;
Retrieves and replaces magazines on shelves in stacks;
Runs errands.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Some knowledge of spelling and arithmetic; interest in library work; willingness to learn; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; good physical condition.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Preferably completion of a standard grade school course or completion of some high school courses; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
