Phase 2 of this multiple year project is anticipated to be complete this month. Construction will begin on Phase 3 in Spring, 2010.
Martha Street Widening & Reconstruction Project: Phase 1 – Martha Street is anticipated to be reopened next week. Driveway approaches have been paved and the sub-contractor is currently installing sidewalk. Military Road Widening & Reconstruction Project: Phase 5 – The contractor paved the final portion of the mainline, the south half from Rebecca Street to Ross Street, yesterday. Street returns at Rebecca Street, George Street and Ross Street are being paved this week and sod is being placed along Center Street between 19th Street and 21st Street. In the coming week, the sub-contractor will continue installing sidewalk along 21st Street between Myrtle Street & Rebecca Street and the contractor will place sod along 21st Street between Center Street and Isabella Street as well as install permanent signing and pavement striping.
Outer Drive Extension Project – There are three contractors working toward completing this project; the bridge contractor is completing the bridge decking and steel reinforcement this week and will pour the final mainline section of the bridge surface next week; the grading contractor will begin hauling in fill material this week, once the old railroad has been completely removed by Union Pacific’s contractor; and the roadway contractor has completed storm sewer installation and is currently grading the new roadway, from Floyd Boulevard to the west bridge approach, and preparing the subgrade for paving. Half the mainline is scheduled to be paved next week, weather permitting. Final completion of this project is anticipated for Spring, 2010.
