Grandview Bandshell
Begun in 1907 and completed a year later, Grandview Park instigated over twenty years of intense growth for Sioux City’s parks. Mose Reed’s Band played at the dedication and began a tradition of summertime musical events that continue to the present.
A year later the WPA approved the construction of the Grandview Park Bandshell. Designed by Henry L. Kamphaefner, the reinforced concrete structure received an honorable mention in an international architectural competition. In May 1935, the music pavilion was dedicated with great fanfare and has served as the site of numerous summer festivities, including Saturday in the Park. Beginning mid-June, the Municipal Band entertains audiences during the summer.
