Major Attractions
The Tyson Events Center, a 10,000 seat arena, has hosted a variety of
events including Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Kenny
Chesney, Fleetwood Mac, BNL, and Cher.
Promenade Theater in our Historic 4th Street District, the heart of
downtown, features a variety of blockbuster movie entertainment opportunities.
The Sergeant Floyd River Museum and Welcome Center located on the
Riverfront offers a wide variety of Sioux City memorabilia in a unique
experience aboard the Sgt. Floyd. Built at the Howard Shipyards in Jefferson,
Indiana in 1932, the Floyd served as a workhouse for the Missouri River Division
of the Corps of Engineers. From 1933 to 1975, she was involved in Missouri River
improvement work, moving men, equipment and supplies, and setting navigation
buoys along the river.
Sioux City is the regional sports center. There are opportunities for all
ages who want to get involved in sporting leagues. For those who prefer being a
spectator, Sioux City offers Junior A Hockey (Musketeers) Minor League Baseball
(Explorers), and Indoor National Football (Bandits).
The Orpheum Theater, originally designed by the nationally known Chicago
firm of Rapp & Rapp, and built in 1927 as part of the Orpheum Circuit, was
magnificently renovated in 2001 and has hosted Broadway shows, musical
masterpieces, and quality performers such as Bill Cosby, Sheryl Crow, The Oak
Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson, and Tony Bennet.
The campground in Stone State Park has 32 camp sites (12 with electric
hookup), with flush toilets and showers. Stone State Park contains 6 miles of
equestrian trails, 6 miles of mountain bike and snowmobile trails and 8 miles of
hiking and cross-country skiing trails.
The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, located in Stone Park, features a
variety of interpretive displays, including a "walk-under" prairie, a 400-gallon
aquarium of native fish, and natural history dioramas.
Arts and Culture
The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center features a unique, interactive
look into the Lewis and Clark journey and showcases the Sioux City area as part
of that journey.
The annual ARTSPLASH Festival is a popular, annual arts celebration held
over Labor Day weekend. The outdoor festival is located just a few blocks from
the Sioux City Art Center in Chris Larsen Park, on the bank of the Missouri
River. The juried festival features a fabulous assortment of arts and crafts,
wonderful family entertainment, and a variety of children's activities.
The state-of-the-art Art Center, opened in 1997, consistently features
unique, blockbuster events that attract people from all over.
Annual music and stage festivals in the City include the Sioux City
Symphony, Sioux City Community Theater, Lamb Productions, and Saturday in the
Park.
The Sioux City Public Museum provides educational opportunities to learn
about the region's cultural history, natural history, and science and technology
through its education programs and exhibits.
Healthcare

There are two state-of-the-art, award-winning hospitals, regional trauma

including a beautiful riverfront and miles of tree — lined recreation trails.

partnership of the City of Sioux City and The Siouxland Initiative, Expedition
Business Park was created, a 200-acre site adjacent to the airport designed for
