STORMWATER RAIN BARREL/HOME COMPOSTING PROJECT REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM
The City of Sioux City has budgeted funding for the Stormwater Rain Barrel/Home Composting Project Reimbursement program. The Stormwater Rain Barrel/Home Composting Project Reimbursement program was created to provide reimbursement to property owners that install a rain barrel(s) to assist in stormwater best management practices on their property that help enhance the water quality of stormwater runoff and/or decrease the amount of stormwater runoff entering the stormwater drainage system. Included also is Home Composting which is nature’s way of recycling. By turning our food scraps and yard waste into compost, we can transform our waste streams into a beneficial, value-added soil amendment and use it to protect the environment and create resilient communities. The program will reimburse up to $100 towards the cost of the rain barrel(s) project or home composting to the property owner who meet the requirements listed below. Reimbursement for approved work will be in the form of a check sent to the applicant or property owner that applied for the reimbursement. Limit one reimbursement per address. Funding is available to applicants on a first come basis and is subject to the approval of the Environmental Advisory Board members.
