Rainbow Trout Stocked at Bacon Creek

Post Date:11/22/2019 2:59 PM

The trout are coming!  Bacon Creek, located at 5015 Correctionville Road, will be stocked on Tuesday, November 26. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources staff will release 1,500 trout on the east side of Bacon Creek at 1:30 p.m. The public is welcome to watch this event and begin fishing for trout as soon as they are released.

Iowa residents and non-residents, regardless of age, must pay a trout fee to fish for or possess trout. Trout fees are $14.50 for residents or $17.50 for non-residents. Individuals,16 years and older, must also have a valid fishing license. Children under 16 years fishing with a properly licensed adult (fishing license and trout fee) do not need to pay a trout fee to fish for or possess trout. The daily limit of caught trout is five.

A fishing license and trout fee can be obtained at any local vendor or go to www.iowadnr.com and click on “Get Your Licenses Online.” For specific information regarding the trout or trout fee and fishing license, please contact the Iowa DNR at 515-725-8200.
