Sioux Gateway Airport FAA Response
On December 17, 2019, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a press release to media which detailed recent inspections of the Sioux Gateway Airport and the imposition of a fine for various violations at the Airport.
During inspections of the airport in May 2018, June 2019 and September 2019, Federal Aviation Administration inspectors discovered numerous alleged violations. After each inspection, steps were taken to address concerns.
The City of Sioux City and Sioux Gateway Airport are committed to maintaining a safe airport. The FAA conducts annual inspections to ensure that airports are maintaining compliance with safety regulations. We are working to resolve the safety related inspection deficiencies and are working on a corrective action plan to eliminate any issues in the future. As a result, steps are being undertaken to ensure that future inspections meet the expectations of the FAA.
The Sioux Gateway Airport wants to assure the traveling public that Sioux Gateway Airport is a safe environment. We are committed to safety and working through the process with the Federal Aviation Administration to resolve all issues to their satisfaction.
