Reverse Angle Parking Added to 3rd St.

Post Date:08/24/2017 2:48 PM

The Public Works Department announces the addition of Reverse Angle Parking Stalls along the north side of 3rd Street, between Virginia Street and Jennings Street. These new stalls are designed to increase safety for entering and exiting traffic. They allow drivers to more easily see traffic when exiting the stall, as well as allowing passengers entering and exiting their vehicle to be further away from the traffic flow.

The steps to perform a reverse angle parking movement are similar to parallel parking. See the illustration below for steps to perform a proper reverse angle park.

These new stalls are back in only. Signs are placed showing the steps to back in and to remind motorists of the correct use of the stalls. Violators will be ticketed and potentially towed.

As with any change in traffic conditions, motorists are advised to reduce speed, drive cautiously, and obey all traffic control signs.

If there are any questions concerning these changes you may call the Engineering Division at 712-279-6324.
