Pet owners are reminded that licensing their pet is both a legal requirement and an important responsibility. Pet licensing helps reunite lost pets with their owners and is closely tied to important health regulations, including proof of rabies vaccinations. This helps reduce the risk of disease outbreaks and ensures that pets are healthy and safe. Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center is offering both vaccination and licensing services at one convenient location.
Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center will host a vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Sunday, January 11 and Sunday, February 8 at their facility located at 2400 Hawkeye Drive. The rabies vaccine, feline 4-way vaccine (panleukopenia, calicivirus, rhinotracheitis, and chlamydia), and dog 5-way vaccine (distemper, adenovirus, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and coronavirus) will be administered by a licensed veterinarian and available for $20.00 each, cash only. Vaccinations are by appointment only between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. by calling 712-279-6968.
2026 pet license tags are available at Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue, the Customer Service Center in City Hall, and at participating veterinarians’ offices. All pet licenses expire on December 31 of the license year. Renewal notices have been mailed to current pet license holders, reminding them to renew their pet’s license. The cost of the license is $15.00 for neutered cats and dogs, $31.00 for unneutered (intact) cats and $50.00 for unneutered (intact) dogs. Pets must be vaccinated for rabies before a license can be issued.
If pet licenses are obtained after March 1 a $15.00 penalty will be added to each license fee; $20.00 will be added after April 1; and $25.00 after May 1.
