Museum Announces Family Summer Programming

The Sioux City Public Museum is offering a variety of exciting opportunities for families this summer. Programs include summer day camps, Kids’ Thursdays, and Make It at the Museum adult art classes. These events are a part of the museum’s 250th Anniversary of the United States celebration. Register for summer day camps and Make It at the Museum on siouxcitymuseum.org.

Summer Day Camps
Children will have the opportunity to learn through play, art, and hands-on activities. There are two sessions of each camp available, based on the child's age. Children 6-9 years old will attend from 9-11:30 a.m., and children 10-12 years old will attend from 1-3:30 p.m. Registration is required, $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

Call to Serve Day Camp
Tuesday, July 7
Discover the US military branches and learn how Sioux City has served.

Kids’ Thursdays, 10-11 a.m.
Kid’s Thursdays will be held every other Thursday this summer. Activities are designed for preschool and early-elementary-aged children, but all are welcome to join in the fun. These events are free, no-registration is required.

Make It at the Museum
New this year! Adults and children 13+ are invited to learn new skills at the museum and create something beautiful! Classes will be held from 1-3 p.m. Registration is required, $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

Cornhusk Doll
Saturday, June 20
Practice basic sewing skills and create your very own cornhusk doll. Explore other creative options with cornhusks including hand-made flowers.

Crop Art

Saturday, July 18
Use corn, beans, and other produce along with craft supplies to create a beautiful art piece. Participants can create their own designs from scratch or start with a prepared design.

The Sioux City Public Museum is located at 607 4th Street in downtown Sioux City. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 712-279-6174 or visit SiouxCityMuseum.org.
