Pierce Street Reconstruction Project Ribbon Cutting
New infrastructure along Pierce Street now provides an attractive corridor through the UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital Campus. A ribbon cutting for the new Pierce Street corridor will be held on Wednesday, November 28th at 5:15pm on Pierce Street in front of UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s to celebrate the completion of this stretch of roadway.
The Pierce Street Project reconstructed the roadway and sidewalks from 24th Street to 29th Street. City utilities, such as sewer, water, storm sewer, and street lights were also replaced. The project includes many additional features such as on-street parking, trees, new lighting, and colored pavements. Coordination with UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center allowed for a realignment of Pierce Street from 27th Street to 29th Street to facilitate a parking lot adjacent to the hospital entrance along with additional parking, landscaping and lighting that enhances the campus and improves pedestrian safety through the corridor.
The reconstruction of Pierce Street from 24th Street to 29th Street was designed by HR Green of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and constructed by Sioux City Engineering.
Projects like this support the City’s commitment for providing safe and efficient major street networks. For more information regarding the Pierce Street Reconstruction Project, please contact the Sioux City Engineering Division at (712) 279-6324.
