Lowest Property Tax Levy in 18 Years

The City of Sioux City’s Finance Department is proud to announce the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 property tax levy of $15.68010 is the lowest levy in 18 years.

The approved tax levy for FY 2020 will decrease 2.4% to $15.68010 from the FY 2019 approved rate of $16.07070. Due to changes in the state mandated rollback, residential City taxes per $100,000 of taxable valuation will remain unchanged at $816.  City taxes per $100,000 of taxable commercial and industrial property will decrease $35 to $1,411.

The FY 2020 Capital Improvement Plan includes $22 million for infrastructure.  This includes but is not limited to; complete street reconstruction which includes underground utilities, asphalt resurfacing, curb and gutter improvements, median enhancements, street lighting and traffic control.

It was the City’s goal to have a balanced, financially sound budget with a renewed commitment to infrastructure spending.
