Solid Waste/ Enhanced Recycling Information PDF Print E-mail

To encourage more residents to recycle and meet a state mandate to reduce landfill usage, the City is changing its garbage collection.

The current monthly rate of $15.30 will entitle each household to one 96 gallon container for yard/household waste and 65 gallon container for recycling.  Households that keep more than one container for yard/household waste will be billed $2.80 for each additional container.  Residents can call Gill Hauling at 712.279.0151 to convert an existing 96 or 65 gallon container to a recycling container.

Residents may take leaves and grass clippings to the landfill at no charge. Yard waste may also be set out curbside in paper lawn bags that have a solid waste sticker affixed to the bag. The $1.00 stickers can be purchased at City Hall, grocery stores, Bomgaars, and Wal-Mart stores.

Residents can show that they support breast cancer awareness by choosing a pink 65 gallon cart for recycling.  For every pink cart ordered, Gill Hauling will donate $5 to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.  The manufacturer of the pink carts, Cascade Cart Solutions, will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society for every container Gill Purchases. The goal is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer and to make a statement of support.   Alert Gill Hauling to your chosen color when converting or ordering a new recycling cart at 712.279.0151.
