Downtown Recycling Containers: One purple glass recycling and One Downtown Recycling Painted with Rainbow Pattern

When done properly, recycling is the #1 action that people can take to conserve water, energy and other natural resources. Recycling prevents waste from reaching waterways, reduces climate change, protects human health and helps businesses save money.

Seven recycling containers are available in downtown, with locations at 401 Gordon Drive, 5th Street & Water Street, 3rd Street and Pierce Street, 4th Street & Jones Street, 5th Street & Court Street, 4th Street & Iowa Street, and 550 Expo Center Drive, shown on the map below.

** Note that #3 located at Pearl Street Park is not placed due to construction **

RECYCLING TIPS

Please only recycle the following in the containers:           

          PAPER                               CARDBOARD                               PLASTIC                               ALUMINUM 

  • No food waste
  • No batteries
  • No plastic shopping bags or baggies
  • Make sure all waste is clean, empty and dry
  • Items may not be bagged
  • Do not throw compostable plastics in recycling bin. Instead, compost or throw in the trash.
  • When in doubt - THROW IT OUT!

TIPS TO REDUCE WASTE

  • Carry a reusable water bottle
  • Pack lunches in reusable containers
  • Say "no" to disposable cutlery
  • Skip using plastic produce bags
  • Use your own reusable shopping bags
  • Compost your waste
