What: Community Litter Cleanup

Where: Lunch at Cone Park Lodge located at 3800 Line Dr.; Litter cleanup locations TBD

When: Friday, April 17 at 12 p.m. (lunch) followed by litter cleanup at 1 p.m.

Who: Anyone that would like to Participate.  If you do not have a team, we can place you on a team.

The City of Sioux City invites residents, businesses, schools, and community groups to coordinate a team for the Sioux City Litter Dash, a litter cleanup, to help beautify our community and reduce the impact of litter on our environment. Working together with several city departments, these efforts will have a visible, positive impact on our community. Litter negatively impacts our environment, the aesthetic appeal of our community, and even economic development. By volunteering for this event, you send a strong anti-litter message and will receive recognition for your commitment to improve our community.

Your group will designate a team captain (the person with whom we will communicate) and form a team of five (5) people. This team will join others at noon on April 17, 2026, for a complimentary lunch and volunteer rally at the Cone Park Lodge located at 3800 Line Dr in Sioux City. The team will receive collection materials including gloves and bags. Following lunch, each group will go to their cleanup location.

Want to participate but do not have a team of five (5) or a team at all?  You can still participate!  Sign up, note the number of people in your group, choose an area of town that you would like to be in (optional), and you will be assigned to an area with others that want to help.  

Lunch is optional.  If you would like to skip the lunch and collect supplies beforehand, please contact Environmental Services at 712-279-6222 to arrange for pick-up.  Otherwise, all supplies will be available for pickup on April 17, 2026 at Cone Park Lodge by 9 a.m.

In case of inclement weather, your team captain will be notified. Litter Dash supplies will still be picked up on Friday, April 17 from Noon - 1 p.m. with litter collection on the following Friday, April 24 or on a day of your choosing. If on a day of your choosing, team captain will need to notify Environmental Services where to collect bags, if needed. 

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to the event; volunteers under the age of 18 will need to submit a waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
