An application can be rejected for a number of reasons.

• Duplicate applications - duplicate applications  will be rejected as we only want one active application on file.
• Incomplete applications - applications without the Education and/or Work History sections not completed, or those failing to provide the correct required attachments will be rejected.
• Failure to demonstrate minimum qualifications - applications not demonstrating they meet the minimum qualifications for the posted position will be rejected.

Rejected applications receive a detailed message through their governmentjobs.com account from Human Resources explaining the reason for the application being rejected.

As long as the posting is still open, applicants may re-apply.  All subsequent applications will be reviewed based on the requirements of the posting.  Be sure to provide any required attachments, complete all sections, and provide clear information demonstrating the minimum qualifications for the position

 Effective June 12, 2023 per City of Sioux City Ordinance 2023 0592, all employees of the City of Sioux City must reside within thirty (30) miles of the City of Sioux City city limits including the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, regardless of the date of employment.  The City Manager, assistants to the City Manager and Department Heads shall reside within the City of Sioux City city limits.  Employees working in IT and the Communications Center are not governed by this residency rule.
